Bay of Islands
Bay of Islands Scene
There are many ways to get to know the Bay of Islands: there are several boat tours, diving trips, and airplane and helicopter fly-overs. We almost chose to go out in a three-masted sailing rig, but the portion of the Bay covered on their itinerary was limited and the emphasis seemed to be on either participating in the work on board or simply relaxing, catching some sun.

The weather that morning was overcast and potentially stormy. Instead, we chose Fuller's "Cream Trip" that has its origins in the route among the islands that old Mr. Fuller took a hundred years ago when he collected milk from the farmers on the islands off-shore. The cruise covers 45 miles all the way out to the Hole in the Rock by Cape Brett.

The weather turned glorious and the trip throughout the islands was another highlight for us.
