RETURN HOME

We spent the night in Carbondale at the convenient and inexpensive campground operated by the town. Nothing fancy, but with all the services plus immediate access to the Rio Grande trail. In the morning, after Judy did her daily run on the trail, we felt the trip was over and it was time to get home. We packed up, hitched up, and headed to Glenwood Springs and I-70. Before heading up Vail Pass, we unhitched the toad from the RV, refueled both vehicles, and drove separately the rest of the way. We had dry roads and sunshine all the way to Nederland, and were home in three hours.

The fall colors were wonderful along the way and we found our neighborhood were as beautiful as we saw anywhere on the trip. It was so pretty that Judy took this photo as we neared home. We spent the next two days washing and waxing the RV; we winterized the water system, vacuumed, washed, and purified the inside, parked the rig in our storage area with the cover on it, and put it to bed for the winter. Then we went through the 750 or so photos we took, reliving the entire trip.

Utah Landscape9We don’t know where we’ll be next September, but it will be hard to top this year’s trip to Utah.
