Bitterroot Valley
	Before the Corps of Discovery and the coming of the white man, this valley was the home of the Salish Indians. Eighty-five years after befriending the early explorers, the Salish people were forced from their ancestral home to settle at the Flathead Reservation north of Missoula. They were one of the few tribes who never engaged in battle against the white man.
