The area around Leadville also offers a wealth of high-country four wheel drive
roads. We tried two that start from the Turquoise Lake loop road: Hagerman Pass,
and the Bear Lake road. It was early June, and we were stopped short of the top on both roads due to impassible snow, which would likely not have melted for at least a couple more weeks. |
